Cristina Torre’s good fielding, meant no hitting the pavement for a lucky baby boy.

She never took her eye off the baby.

The daughter of Yankee legend Joe Torre heroically caught a 1-year-old boy who fell of the awning of a Brooklyn building on Wednesday, the Daily News has learned.

Cristina Torre, 44, was walking along Third Ave. near 91st St. when she spotted the baby boy hanging from outside a storefront about 10 a.m., cop sources said.

Suddenly, the child dropped — but he landed safely in Torre’s outstretched arms, the sources and witnesses said.

“The woman caught the baby,” said Kristen Bramsen, 48. “The baby was shaken. Everyone was going up to the woman and hugging her. I hugged her.”

But the daughter of the former Yankees manager didn’t gloat about the save.

“She just smiled and said she was in shock,” Bramsen recalled.

Cops later determined that the little boy slipped through a piece of cardboard placed next to an air conditioning unit in the window of the family’s second-floor home, sources said.

It was not immediately clear where the parents were during the baby’s escape, but both of them were cuffed at the scene and taken into custody.

The parents — Sam Miller, 23, and Tiffany Demetria, 24 — face charges that include endangering the welfare of a child and neglect, law enforcement sources said.

The little boy was taken to Lutheran Hospital, where he was placed under observation.

The child and his three siblings — ages 2, 3 and 5 — were taken into custody by the city’s Administration for Children’s Services, sources said.

Neighbors called the parents “gypsies,” who work as palm readers and often do Tarot card readings on the street.

“(Miller is) not very nice, I’ll tell you that,” said Tom Abrahams, 65. “I keep away from him. He’s been nasty to me at times.”

Cristina Torre could not immediately be reached for comment.

Her father, Joe Torre, 72, managed the Yankees between 1996 and 2007 and brought the team to four World Series titles. He played ball for more than 17 years as a catcher, first baseman and third baseman for teams that include the Atlanta Braves, the New York Mets and the St. Louis Cardinals.
