Kyrgios: ‘I’ll do all I can for Stan’

AUSSIE Nick Kyrgios wants to leave his history with Stan Wawrinka in the past as they work together in an attempt to win the International Premier Tennis League.

Wawrinka and Kyrgios haven’t spoken since the latter’s infamous on-court sledge in Montreal in August.

But they’ll team up as members of the Singapore Slammers in the closing leg of the IPTL season this week.

“We haven’t obviously talked at all,” Kyrgios said when asked about his Swiss teammate.

“I think whatever has happened has happened. I think we’ve got one goal, he’s a great player and he’s obviously going to be the main guy for our team, so I’m going to do everything I can, whether that’s me being on the bench, you know doing whatever I can to warm him up or whatever.

“Here, I think we all want to win and hopefully we can put everything aside and just do that.”

World number four Wawrinka was brought in as a late replacement for Novak Djokovic.

Wawrinka, Kyrgios and Andy Murray’s Slammers sit second on the IPTL table, just behind the Indian Aces of Rafael Nadal, Bernard Tomic and Gael Monfils.

Murray has been the key reason for the Slammers’ rise to the top two after beating the UAE Royals’ Roger Federer earlier this week.

But Wawrinka and Kyrgios will need to work together in the final round of the season for their team to take home the title.
