The article claims that an unnamed scout approached Beckham in late 2012 while he was still playing in Major League Soccer with the LA Galaxy. Instead of giving American football a shot, the former English captain signed with Paris Saint-Germain of France, where he called it a career at the end of last season.
In case you were wondering what David Beckham would look like in shoulder pads.
“A couple of scouts felt that David has the potential to become a kicker in the NFL … and one actually put a call into him for a trial,” a source told the Daily Mirror, without naming the interested team.
“Major league kickers can send the ball 40 yards straight – David has shown for the last 15 years he can do that week in week out.”
Beckham gave the world a glimpse of his gridiron abilities in a 2007 Adidas commercial, where he went through a series of drills with running back Reggie Bush, then with the New Orleans Saints.

He also showed off his precision kicking between the uprights in another TV ad co-starring rugby star Jonny Wilkinson.
In addition to his golden right foot, Beckham’s marketing cachet reportedly had the unnamed NFL team seeing dollar signs as well.
“It was obvious too that if Becks took up the offer then any NFL franchise would be interested as his international appeal would generate billions in PR and commercial opportunities,” the source told the Mirror.
